1. System Composition

SFP Travelling Block Protector is used to monitor lifting and lowering height of travelling block on the derrick to avoid mistaken operation by the driller, and to prevent travelling block from colliding with crown block. It consists of data acquisition and display unit, controlling unit, travelling block sensor and relevant cables.

2. Working Principle

The system collects signal from travelling block sensor via data acquisition and display unit, and then calculates and displays height of travelling block. Alarm height value of travelling block is preset. When actual height exceeds the set height value, the system will alarm. First alarm is used to remind the driller; and automatic brake is realized with the help of controlling unit on the second and third alarm.
